I just received my DS-125 today... just 2 days before my trip to Bonaire. It won't be possible to work in a dive between now and then to check things out. Will there be any harm with dry-firing the strobe on land to make sure everything works and do some test shots?

Thanks.

No harm if I recall correctly but only for a limited shots as the strobe builds up heat quickly. I practiced on land with a 125 several times for a small handfull of shots with an interval of time in between with absolutely no problem.

I use my Inon above water often, just take it easy and let it cool between shots.

Cool... thanks guys. I was thinking, if nothing else, fill up the sink with cool, not cold water and let it cool between shots. Time to go home and have some fun!

A couple shots won't hurt with time between them as the others have said. Backscatter helped me complete my rig and they recommended testing by filling the sink or bathtub to be on the safe side.

i have used my pair ds 125 strobes at half power hundreds of times (literally!) for studio product photography shooting. just take your time in between strobe firings.........
