Does anyone here have any experience with the DJI Osmo Action Pro 5? I've seen some online reviews and YouTube videos but trust SB more. Thanks.

Yep, I'm quite impressed with the camera and how well it handles low-light situations.

Comparing to the Insta360 Ace Pro it handles low-light better and produces less noise. I haven't had a GoPro in a while so I can't speak to that comparison.

One thing I did notice is that the first power-on takes a bit longer than with the other action cams I used, but afterwards it's quick and responsive. Battery lasts multiple dives in cold water. In the Molnar Janos cave I made an oopsie and flooded the housing (my fault) and it kept working just fine even after being fully flooded at 40 meters, but it disabled the buttons, so I couldn't operate it in that state. Drying off and it was fine again.

Sounds very encouraging and I bought one with DJI Clear housing, floating hand grip , etc. Will play in a pool soon with it and looking forward to experimenting not just 4K video but also stills with less hassle than previous shooting set ups I've hauled for decades :)

A couple questions for splitti.....

How are the little white fiber things supposed to be placed in the clear DJI housing? There is no clear instructions where to place them and do they just absorb any moisture from camera heat generated?

Did you purchase any accessory AOI or Inon UWL-03 type lens? Does either cover the color temperature sensor on the OsmoAction 5 Pro? Just wondering as information I've found isn' very detailed.

It seems those wide angle lenses allow the lens to focus a bit closer.

I'm a dedicated minimalist these days and don't want to enlarge any amount of gear I travel and dive with if the benefit isn't that great.

Any insights appreciated !

We both have a Osmo Action 5 Pro each, that we bring along for our dives. Battery lasts a long time, and we use them without a housing since it's rated waterproof to 20m. Here's our latest video, keep in mind we are beginner divers, new to drysuit diving, and we are total novices at composition, keeping the camera steady, video editing, colour correction, lighting etc - all those factors are stacked against us, but we still manage to create a (bad) video 🤪 We've used the Mimo app for editing.

This is great! What type of extension pole/stick are you using? I assume it's waterproof and you clip it to your BCD when you're not using it?

Yes the AOI lens QR adapter covers the sensor completely. I had a chat with AOI about it and they confirmed it - so I dropped my plan of getting it.
