Any Chicago divers here?

Hi all,

I live in Chicago area (Downers Grove to be exact) and would like to know other divers who live near by. Is there something like Chicago diving club where people meet and dive together (local and out-of-state)? I would like to know more divers and make new friends. I have a few friends who dive, but our schedules don’t always match. Please let me know if you know such a club/group.

Naperville here... I was in the same spot a bit ago and did a few things to meet other divers.

If you look below a few posts you will see a dive on the "Mack" this weekend that I will be on. Bill Loy puts charters together and is a great guy. You have to be AOW to do it. It looks like two spots are left. I found it a good way to meet other area divers.

I also attend the dive club that meets at IID Scuba in Glen Ellyn. They have divers there that dive locally and do trips. I am taking a trip through IID in November that has spots open. John Perhay runs IID and he is also very good to deal with. They run a "picnic" on Friday a month at Haigh. If you are available Friday afternoons that would be good. (I am not usually)

Lots of the dive-clubs on the above page are in the Chicago area (lower-left, scroll down a little - it was blue letters on a green background last time I looked at it).

I try to hang out with the Aquanauts and the Buccaneers. The scuba meetup people are a good group, too - they seem to have more outings. Pick a club, start haning out, if the people don't work for you try another one.

Check out your scuba shop(s), too - they often organize charters and thats a good place to meet people.
