Thanks for all the responses. At least I'm some what on the right train of thought. Haha. I'll keep looking for some used tanks. Just slim to none here in KC area. It's funny you mentioned DRIS as that's where I drove to buy my dry suit. They are great folks.

then if you want to buy new, call Mike and ask him what he can do for you, nothing wrong with your LDS being 500 miles away

No go on those CL tanks. The grey ones were too rusty around the necks. Have been sanded so much the original stampings were gone. The white one is s an old Voit.

Ah shoot... Stop messing around with CL tanks. Get yourself a pair of HP120's unless you can't afford them. Then CL is your friend for cheapo gear. If you're living in Olathe, KS, you need to have whatever fun you can scrounge in this life.

Remember that the mail order cylinder will probably arrive with the valve off / zero PSI. By definition this means you will be going to your local shop for a VIP and first fill. Bought there both are probably included in the price. Recognizing that can close the gap and loyalty can often cinch the local deal.

IIRC they can ship cylinders with up to 50 psi in the cylinder without hazmat charges. So unless you don't buy a valve with the tank it should come with a current VIP and O2 clean, at least that is how most of the online vendors seems to work. But you certainly will need a fill.

Did you even bother to read his post? Dive shop wants $425 plus tax, or he can buy them for $330 no tax free shipping. I just moved down from Maine, but even up there, VIP and fill wasn't over $100.... Last I checked, VIP and a fill should be no more than $25/tank.

I'll just buy tanks from DRIS. They ship them ready to go with VIP. They do charge shipping on tanks but it's very reasonable. Still $100 per tank cheaper than any place around here.
