Hey all,

Looking to start my equipment collection here soon and have been looking at a few regs.

So far I've kinda narrowed it down to the XS SEAAIR Tri-Metal, Oceanic Delta, and an Aqualung that I can't remember the model for (Real lightweight, think it's titanium, black maybe had a little silver on the 2nd stage, silver 1st stage, 2nd stage a little smaller than typical I guess).

I like what I've read about the XS SEAIR Tri. The only thing that i've heard as a negative really is that they are a new company so it may be hard to find a place to service/get parts for them. Most of those threads were here on scubaboard and I should have checked how old they were, think most of them were from last year but could be wrong.

Other than that the Oceanic Delta has caught my interest, not sure on the titanium version or regular but I think the titanium is only $10 more and I'm sure would cause less jaw fatigue.

The Aqualung I looked at in a shop, very lightweight, nice mouthguard, seems to be good quality.

I'd like to do Nitrox, deep diving, and wreck diving, among other things in the future.

Out of these regs which would you all lean towards. Or, is there an entirely different one you would recommend?

I have both an XS Scuba Tri- Metal and an Agualung Legend Supreme, they are both great regs, both can be used for Nitrox up to 40 % out of the box. The Tri-Metal breaths just as good or better and cost a lot less then the Agualung. I have had them both past 100 ft and preformed very good.

Xs Scuba is a great company and has great customer service, my dealer told me Mike from XS Scuba knows all the dealers by name, they are a fast growing company and stand behind there products.

Oceanic also have great customer service.

Hope this helps.

Are you referring to the new Kronos? http://www.aqualung.com/products/kronos.html

Can't think of any Aqualung regs made with titanium. Anyway, other good Aqualung regs you can look into are the Legends series: http://www.aqualung.com/products/legend_lx.html

Among the list of regs you gave, I think I would go with Aqualung regs since they have better serviceability here in my market. Heard good things on Oceanic regs as well but the local distributor refuses to sell service kits to dive shops. Anyway, other good regs you can look into are

New XTX series from Apeks: http://www.apeks.co.uk/
MK25 and/or MK17 from Scubapro: http://www.scubapro.com/

Scubapro Mk-17/G-250 - Sweet spot for price performance however, needs to be special ordered by the dealer. You may want to wait for the new Mk-19 due out in a few months. MK-25/S-600 is also excellent

The Atomic Z-2 is also excellent and you may be able to find a good deal on a Z-1 being the Z-2 replaced it.

Apeks are excellent also. The Titan-Lx is an excellent breathing reg also.

Hey Fireman:
Thanks for the good words, I sure appreciate your support of XS Scuba. I have to say it's not true, knowing the name of everyone of our dealers. I've been working in scuba my whole life so many of our dealers are my good friends. And those that aren't I just treat them like they are. But, it is sure as heck true, we'll stand behind any product we sell.
