So, last weekend,a returning student arrives on Island to complete his Master Scuba Diver.
Brand new Perdix bought on my recommendation.
He had never opened the box, opens it and realises he needs a code to activate the AI.
A big thank you to Ness in customer support for sorting us out 1 hour before closing time on a Friday afternoon!!!

Not questioning what you said, just curious. There was a code to activate the AI?
I don't recall there being a code to activate any of the ones I have set up (other than the code on the transmitter).
Was this something that got missed at the factory that all the rest of us poor saps had the benefit of it just working in the background?

Yep, it has has to be obtained from Shearwater.
There is actually a label on the outside of the packaging stating same.
This Perdix was bought in the UK so could be just an European thing.
Also could be that there us some liscensing issue where Shearwater pay royalties but only if the AI is used.
Last one I bought was 12 months ago, no code required at that time.

It is a European thing. Not an issue here in North America.

Interesting. Thank you for educating me.
