My portable 4.2 Kiddie great - but I might move up to something bigger for the garage and keep the portable on the boat full time.

Im looking and seriously considering a 12 yr old 8.4 CFM Bauer that looks almost new. Has about 1100 hours, but very, very clean and supposedly well taken care of. Owner says that it runs no problem with no issues - The first 6 years it ran a lot, then hasnt run quite as much recently - but still supposedly runs great.

Anything I should be looking out for? Any potential issues? If it runs and was as well maintained as stated, should I be looking at anything major for PM soon?

I have purchased several 8 CFM Bauers in the past 5 years -- Refurbished --sell for between $6500 and $9,000 depending on labor and parts replaced.

so at 1100 hours - am I looking at needing a refurb? One guys told me ha had 3000, and another 4800, before having a rebuild. Does that sound reasonable - or, should I consider significant dollars as an investment after the purchase, for a rebuild.

If you change the oil often and run the compressor every week or two until it is hot. You eliminate most problems and they last a long time.
If it sits and is not used regularly - then you can expect issues. Moisture and surface rust from limited use can lead to big repair costs.

If you are looking for a Bauer compressor I have one with about 800 hrs on it that I really do not use anymore. It has full electronics package with auto condensate drains. If you are interested let me know.

Going with the compressor is Hyperfilter, (3) 4500 PSI bank tanks, fill whips, high pressure fill regulator, distribution block well basically the whole system. I have kind of pushed away from teaching and mixed gas diving and it is a lot of space and money sitting there.

Here is a shot of the equipment tag.
