..read the article again folks. It was a bottle of "cheap Russian champagne" and the they found the fish "half dead".
I would be willing to bet cheap Russian champagne wouldn't set you back too much and a fish that was acting "half dead " probably wouldn't be too hard to catch and bring to the surface. It was a northern pike which means the water was probably pretty cold. Even healthy fish don't move very fast in really cold water unless it's really necessary... and as stated earlier, Reuters is a pretty damn reputable news source.
The press will print it only because there isn't a really juicy and bloody war or terrorist attack happening.
Actually this story came out on 1/8/04. The same day they reported a black hawk helicopter shot down in Iraq killing all on board. Nine soldiers, I believe, were killed. There are more news stories out there than blood and killing if you look for them. The internet is a great source of news for things going on in every corner of the earth (even though the earth is round)...Much beter source than watching CNN or Fox. I've found news articles on the internet before, reporting breaking news that CNN and Fox and the like didn't pick up until almost a week later. That's lousy reporting IMO.
Yeah, TV is about the worst place to get accurate news in a timely fashion..unless of course, it's something that is a ratings bonanza like the compound of a religious cult going up in flames and everybody inside getting burned alive...then you get to watch it in real time, boy howdy!
Ever notice how the female anchors on Fox news, all look like strippers or hookers or something, with all the plastic surgery and thick pouty lips with a gob of that thick, shiny, wet looking lipstick all over them? It's because TV news is not about reporting the news, it's about ratings. I get the bulk of my news from the internet. I find it to be a much more credible source for real news and not hyped up news.
Wow! did I overanalyze this or what?
