Ok i am just getting my own tube surface marker. i have a 4lb anchor and a carabiner clip on the float .
well i have a 100 ft rope. what do you use to wrap the rope up and how do you keep the extra from un winding at the bottom?
i would say you want it to unwind from the float down. i have a 15ft marker on the rope so i planned a head on that area.

i just need to know/get some ideas on how to wrap the rope and only have the right amount lose so the marker isnt useing all the extra rope to move around.

...a plastic rope-wrap, purchased from a hardware store. Mine has a handle, with 4 separate "hook-eyes" ( for lack of a better term ) that can be used to slip the line into so that the wrap sits vertical in the water ( you'll need sufficient tension on the line to keep it in place ).

So, one end of the wrap is attatched to your anchor via a short lead of rope, while from the other end of the wrap exits your line to your surface marker.

Handy as all get-out.

What I do on mine is I use velcro fastner 1 1/2 in wide. I unwrap the length then velcro the remainder. One suggestion is to stitch the ends together and to fold over the fastening end so I have a tab to grab in the event of ease if I have to let out more or just for ease so I don't have to pick at the end to open it. Hope this makes sense. What it looks like is one long piece of velcro hooks facing up and fabric loop lying down with one of the ends having a tab.
