Has anyone been diving with Amy Slate's or stayed at their resort. Heard it was pretty nice but would like to know from someone's experience with them. I am heading down there this evening and wanted to know what to expect. Taking my whole family so is it a good place for kids too??

Stayed there a number of times, good place for divers.
Not sure about kids though; they have a pool but that's about it.
Ok, if the kids snorkle I imagine.

My family and I were there last Thanksgiving. The rooms are nice but not plush. Floors are tile so as not to be damaged by dripping gear. A/C is via window units, at least in the room we had. There was construction to one of the bungalos going on at that time and there was a bit of dust in the air and access to the pool was difficult.

The folks running the office are very nice. The Amoray Diver is a good platform run by a great crew. I guess the bottom line is if you're there for the accomodations you might be a bit disapointed, but as a dive resort you'll be pleased overall.

Do yourself a favor and have a meal at Hobo's a few miles south of Amy's!

Its OK if not a bit rustic, at least some of the units have fridges that might be helpful with kids. They run a big outboard powered cat (Corithian) that is reasonable.

For about the same dollars, I would recommend the Holiday Inn. They have two pools and are in walking distance to bars and places to eat (including Wendy's etc.) and even the KL Blockbuster. Although the views, especially the sunset are much better bayside where Amoray's is located. Hobos use to be within 75', now they moved down just up from MM 101 so you had to drive in either case.

You have quite a few dive ops right in front of the Holiday Inn including HMS Minnow with many others on the same strip.

Well, a few of the kids going are divers too so not worried about that part much. Guess the wives will probably go sightseeing with the two smaller kids while we are out on the water. Thanks for the info.

I was there at the end of October/beginning of November but didn't actually dive with them. Of the 3 rooms we stayed in, 2 had bugs. The place was under heavy construction so I didn't even see a pool. My friend dived with them a couple of times and thought they were great to dive with! :)

A+++. I stayed there in April 2004 and had such a good time I have made reservations for this April as well. I had heard of the upgrading that was going on but I should think it would be about finished by now.

It's great place to spend some dive time, the boat is only steps from any of the rooms. Not sure what the kids will think about it. It is geared toward diving.

Well, the way I figure it, if the kids are bored that is too bad for them. I entertain them EVERY DAY so they can be bored for 2 days while I entertain myself.

I hear ya, we left ours behind when we went to Bonaire in Nov. and they aren't going in April to Amy's either. Course they are old enough now that they really have their own agendas. Have a great time.
