Greetings from a "Northerner"! I have a chance to spend a few days at the Amoray Dive Resort in Jan 2009. A search of SB came up with a variety of experiences good and bad (most were several months ago). I would appreciate any info/opinions on the resort or any other op recommendations.

My dive buddy and I have around 30 dives each (mostly warm water). He is OW certified and I am recently AOW.

Thanks!

There are better choices. You may wish to contact speargirl (Becky) about renting a condo or townhouse, and consider diving with a more highly-reviewed dive op.

If you're paying to stay there, take Debby's advice.

Thanks deepstops & DebbieDiver!

Your opinions seem to be the consensus from my research.

Sorry!:depressed:

It's cold and snowing up here and my fingers (and mind) don't want to work today!

My son and I stayed at Amoray in April and we could not have asked for better treatment from the staff. There may be newer and up to date facilities to stay but the crew were great and made the diving very enjoyable.

The problem is that you just never know what you will get from them. Some people report outstanding service, some people report abysmal conditions and indifferent staff. I'd stick with something that has a more consistent reputation.

DebbyDiver,

I'm also looking at Conch Republic Divers, which seem to have a better reputation here on SB.

Absolutely, Conch has an awesome reputation and I have personally dived with them several times, and will contine to dive with them. They are just a little further south in a great area, and they can arrange condos or lodging for you.
