My husband and I booked a trip to Amoray Dive Resort in Key Largo for November 2012. Now I am reading alot of negative reviews regarding this company for both the dive company and the resort. Does anyone have any experience with this dive company. We are wanting do do a couple specialty dives with them, and don't want to hassle with a bunch of nonsense. Thanks.

Where are these reviews you are reading. I have been to Amy's twice and both times were great. Now that was a few years ago but I find it hard to believe they went that far downhill. Our room was literally 15 feet from the boat. It is a dive operation. No fancy carpets, no restaurant, but it was clean, quiet, and inexpensive. That is all I care about. Tanks were always full, there were some issues with one dive trip that got canceled because a bunch of snorkelers showed up and they changed the site. Next day there was a knock on my door. Captain said Amy wanted to go out and did I want to come. So it was my late wife, me, Amy, and an instructor that was going to be her dive buddy. We got on the boat and she looked at me and asked me where I wanted to go. I said how about the Duane. She said fine and the Duane it was. Had a great dive on it and afterwards headed towards Spanish Anchor. She decided she wanted to do a drift dive so we splashed and drifted while the boat followed us. About halfway through the dive she indicated she was cold and was going up but that we should keep going. So we drifted for another half hour and surfaced. The boat was about 300 yds away. I said do we need to signal them? Nope they see us. Just lay back and wait for em to get here. 85 degrees, out on a calm sea, waiting for the boat to come to us. One of my best dive memories, all thanks to Amy Slate.

I have been to Amoray a number of times over the past few years. My LDS runs 6-8 trips a year, staying at and diving with Amoray. I have never seen any problems with the hotel, which isn't fancy, but clean, or with the dive operation. The boat is big and can be a bit crowded, but the crew has always done a good job getting everyone in and out of the water. Like many dive ops in Florida, they do not put a DM or guide in the water with you, but I believe you can arrange for a private guide ahead of time.

Thank you for this information. Most of the reviews are coming from Trip Advisor and Froder's Reviews. I was concerned to the point of canceling and going with another company. But I love dive resort locations. We love the the Sunset House in the Caymans and Hotel Cozumel. So I am feeling more comforted with this location being somewhat like these dive resorts. I like small but clean, concentrating on diving locations. I will be able to relax a bit and look forward to this dive trip. I am hoping to do the wreck and deep certification dive certification for the Master Dive Certification. I am sooo looking forward to the wreck dives. Thanks again for responding.
