Ambergris Caye vs. Turneffe Island

I will be in Belize in January and was planning to stay on Ambergris Caye, but recently have been looking at some of the places on Turneffe Island.

Can anyone who has had experience diving around Turneffe Island compare the diving to Ambergris? Is it really worth it to stay in Turneffe? I know Turneffe Island Lodge is supposed to be great, but it's a little out of our price range, so I was looking at Turneffe Flats.
