It seems that I need to replace my synch cords about every two years. I see nothing visibly wrong with my latest one (it was working when I left Cozumel last May) but it's not working now. I rinse them after every dive. I left this one with one end plugged into my strobe and the other end removed from the housing. It wasn't crumpled or bent during storage. Should I be doing something else with them or are they something that normally requires replacement every few years...???

I have had a problem with ikelite sync cords. They have redesigned them now to improve the lifespan. The wires inside the cord become brittle and sometimes works and sometimes not. Inconsistent firing underwater was the symptoms on my cord. The cord in current does move a little and the constant movement is my guess why my cords had problems.

You can try cleaning the contacts with some 91% rubbing alchol. It's possible that some surface corrosion is present.
