Someone (off board) suggested that if I can't afford a DPV class at the moment, I just get a PADI book for $40 dollars, and read it for starters. Has anyone here seen that book, and if so can you tell me whether it's worth a one hour drive to go get?

I would have not seen any padi books worth reading, nevermind spending 2 hrs of your life and $40 to go get.

Is there a book that goes with the PADI Altitude Diver course? I'm going to be taking that, but I heard there isn't a book.
