I hate octopuses, they seem like a solution in search of a problem, but a regular dive partner insists I have one. Does anyone know of an alternate air/inflator assembly that will mate directly to the port at the wing shoulder, or do I have to take the valve and plumb it to the end of the existing Dive Rite corrugated hose?
On the subject of alternate air/inflator combos, anyone care to recommend their favorite? I have a Zeagle on another BC that I'm not that pleased with, due to requiring regular adjustment to prevent free-flow, and to corrosion on the inflator plunger, causing leaks. I rinse immediately every dive, but it seems like this piece corroded quickly.

DR corrugated hose is std 1" so it is compatible with most combined octo/inflators: Scubapro, Tusa, Atomic. Seaquest....

dive rites own alerternate air source inflator...

Does the wing have a dump valve on the shoulder? If not, how are you going to vent air during an air sharing ascent? My Diverite has a dump for one bladder but it is only useable by pulling on the hose.

My wife and I have been using Atomic SS1's for a little over 2 years now. Never a problem of any sort. Breathes well at depth too.

The unit comes with 3 adapters for mateing it to your corrugated hose.

The atomic has an exhaust on the side which will allow you to vent while in your mouth, as does the Zeagle Octo + I believe. Don't know about the others.

How does thay play in terms of orientation to vent?

you just take the air 2 out of your mouth and pull down to vent air and then put it back in your mouth. Kinda ties up one hand in an emergency.

Ditto what Don said. I use my Atomic SS1 on my Dive Rite Travel wing and it works well.

The venting issue that everyone tries to make a big deal is a non issue with the SS1. There are a few options on venting with it in your mouth. Tugging on the hose is one, inhaling the air in your wing is another and I read on where where Chad Carney said you depress the vent halfway and exhale and it will draw the air from the wing as well. Again, several solutions to a non existant problem. The SS1 works great.
