Hello all,

I'm new to Scubaboard. I don't know how other new joiners feel, but frankly, this website is quite overwhelming. Other than Introductions and Greets, I can't find "Post new thread" anywhere:confused:. Someone needs to seriously help me out :crying:
I'm dying to ask help from dive community for a 3d/3n liveaboard trip to Komodo, Indonesia!

Anyway, I'm from Vietnam, where diving is relatively new and dive sites are poor. I'm looking forward to find other divers in Vietnam here to plan oversea dive trips in future.
Income in Vietnam is not so high either, so I'm hoping to find advice on Scubaboard to save money on divetrips.

I have been diving for nearly 2 years. My dive history is short but already "jumpy". For over a year, I dived in Vietnam only. My first oversea dive trip was Sipadan. So I went from diving in the lamest sites in the Southeast Asia dive region to one of the top 10 in the world . Sipadan was the best experience ever, but it was also a curse as now I can't make myself go to places that are just ok in the region. I'm aiming to visit Malaspacua, Pescador (Philippines), Komodo, Raja Ampat (Indonesia), Layang Layang, Tenggol (Malaysia)!!!! :praying:

Cheers,

Van

Yo, Van:

Click on "Forum List", then "Forum Home", find the forum that best applies, probably "Basic Scuba Discussions" go there and you will see the "+Post New Thread" green button.

Welcome!

Hi Van. I think for your specific question about liveaboards in Indonesia, your best options are either the Indonesia regional forum or the Liveaboards forum. Since you're already in the region in VN, I believe you'll get better replies from the Indonesia forum. Here's the link:
Indonesia
At the top of the window you'll see a green color oval button with the words " + Post New Thread". Just click that and you're all set!

Thanks Lowviz, and Quero for your replies and instructions.
I successfully posted a thread and had people reply!

Now I want to reply them all in one reply (don't wanna spam the thread with so many replies), so how can I do a multiple quotes in a reply?

I clicked "reply with quote" to Quero, for example, I saw the following at the beginning

to Lowviz
The intitial part is easy to repeat: "[QUOTE=" + ID, but the numbers in the square brackests, .. I haven't figured out how to determine them without having to manually click on "reply with quote" at bottom of the reply I want to quote.

To multi-quote click the icon to the right of Reply with Quote - the box with a + next to it. A green checkmark will appear. Repeat for subsequent posts - except on the last post you wish to multi-quote click Reply to Quote instead. This will stack the quoted posts in a new reply - (edited for brevity):
Hello all,

Van

Yo, Van:

Welcome!
You can post comments between the quoted posts as desired also.

When you hit reply with quote, the number is a reference link back to the quoted post.

If you just want to quote part of a reply without maintaining the reference - one way to do it is to cut/paste the section of text then hit the quote icon (the white box at the right end of the toolbar):
I clicked "reply with quote" to Quero, for example, I saw the following at the beginning

You can also manually surround pasted text with quote tags: [quote]testing...[/quote] - yields this:
testing...

Note - if you edit this post, the noparse tags are being used to bypass the BB code execution so you can view the code for the 2nd example - they're not necessary for normal quoting. Noparse is used to display the code without applying the result.

To quote across threads click Reply with Quote then cut or copy the entire contents of the result and paste it into a new thread or reply in the same or a completely different forum. Including the post reference number will enable other members to review the quoted thread if desired by clicking the blue >> box next to the username. Example from another thread in this forum:
hello from florida, My name is Colton and im 18, LOVE to dive. trying to learn how to use this and meet some cool people and learn some good stuff!

A list of all of the BB codes used here can always be found in the Help menu dropdown in the top menubar.
