I am getting ready to head into town and catch my boat to Little Cay for the next 8 days...No phone..no tv..no internet... just a lot of bliss. Ill be diving with Captain Morgan's while im out there as they are really my only option but I have heard that they run a good boat. Utila was everything I could ask for. Are there problems..sure but look out your backdoor or on the tube at home and im sure that you will find we have plenty of those in our own home. I never feared for my safety in Utila even once...and I made some very late night walks home from Coco Loco's etc. I am definately going to miss the Salva Vida and late night Baleada's from the super nice ladys on the street near Bundu's. They seen me coming and always knew I wasnt passing them by with out eating at least 3 lol. The diving in town is great for the budget minded. Decent boats, great staff and you will see some nice diving but be prepared for the boats to be student heavy at times, which can limit the available sites. Not so at the resorts like deep blue, laguna beach and utopia....they cater more to the established diver rather than the student..though occasionally they may have a class if desired..AOW...enriched air etc.. I was always able to dive my own profle at Laguna Beach though the staff was quick to point out local life etc. RoatanMan once said...if your thinking about going to Utila...Go! Go now!...He is right as rain. Go before it gets over run by tourists and cruiseships... every 10 year old child here it seems already has a cell phone..the future is coming, get here before it arrives. You will love it! The Bay Islands are about as different as you could get from mainland Honduras. If you can stay afloat on a few beers and some food...then the island will serve you just fine..if you need more luxury type accommodations then the resorts are your way to go. i have done both and they both have their advantages/disadvantages. Quite simply put coming (despite the american news media spin cycle and advisorys that should have never included the Bay Islands in the first place)and spending a month in Utila has so far been one of the greatest things I have done and I will treasure it always, especially since i almost allowed myself to be scared off of this completely wonderful bit of paradise! I treaasure it so much im already planning for next year. Ill let you guys know how captain morgans op was

Thanks for you posts on Utila Robert. I've been interested to read them even though I'm living here - it's great to see the island through somebody else's eyes and hear about the things that kept me here in the first place - errr.... if you see what I mean! As a diver there has never been a better time to dive Utila than this year! The low diver numbers has created some great deals and as a customer you should be getting a lot of care and attention from your chosen dive center.

As far as the diving in town goes - it's pretty straight forward if you want to avoid student heavy boats. Make sure you go with a dive center that has at least two boats and can avoid putting students and fun divers together which can of course limit the fun diver choices.

Once again, thanks for your posts.

Ahhh yes. Another convert. Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'll be down in November and am surely looking forward to it.
