A friend found that he was allergic to his down pillow, his head clogged terribly at night, trying to sleep.

My pillows aren't down, but maybe it's the new bed.

Anyone heard of having sinus congestion within an hour of laying down to sleep?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That is not unusual to have worse congestion at night, whether it is allergy, viral induced, or what ever. When you stand up, venous pressure on your head drop to the toe. When you lie down, venous pressure is equalized, and is higher at head level. This explains the congestion.

As far as irritant or allergen in your pillow or bedding, you are going to have to do your own investigation. But if the congestion started after the bedding were purchased, then you might have something here.
