My wife and I are thinking of a trip to Cozumel in May. We have stayed at Scuba Club Cozumel and enjoyed it but want to try something new. What all inclusive resorts have some of you visited that you would recommend? We would prefer that they have shore diving on the premises if at all possible. This will be a dive trip but also we will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary so we would like to have something more than the eat, sleep and dive vacation. Any input would be much appreciated.

All the resorts south of town are within the Marine Park boundaries and to dive within the park you are supposed to be accompanied by a guide.

Park Royal is a nice AI with decent food and some pretty good shore diving close by. The best shore diving is actually of of Del Mar's pier. That is where a lot of the snorkel boats come to drop off their guests to snorkel. There is an instructor/dive op that operates out of the Tiki Bar there that can give you a tour and take photos of you in that area. His name is Mario Ceh and he is very good, know where to find all the sea horses, bat fish, frog fish and eels in the area.

The recent Scubaboard Invasion into Cozumel was centered at the Hotel Cozumel and Resort. It was all inclusive. The food was ok. It's located within walking distance to the main drag. Attached to the hotel was a dive op called Dive Paradise. They did a good job handling our very large group. There is a reef to shore dive there too.

Scuba Club & Hotel Coz are side by side so that wouldn't be new to them.

I've been to Cozumel about 10 times... I stayed at Casa Del Mar 5-6x, El Cid 1x, the Allegro 2x, and most recently secrets 1x...

I did not enjoy El Cid, because of the tiny little elevators...

Casa Del Mar has always been a wonderful place to stay but I have not been there in quite some time...

The Allegro was decent, the food was meh... But the location was fantastic especially for a short boat ride to the reef... You would need a car if you stayed down there because the cab rides are expensive to town if you decide to go

Most recently, I stayed at secrets... I would never stay there again because it is not catering towards the divers... More towards vacationers... That being said there is not a rinse tank anywhere near the dock, and there are no lockers... It was a whole lot of fun carrying my gear all the way back to the room every single day without it being rinsed...

So I guess you're going to have to decide whether you're going on a dive trip or you're going on a vacation... I dove for 5 days in a row and it got really old carrying my stuff to the dock and back

Something else to think about, is going to an all inclusive in Cozumel kind of shot changes you because the restaurants are so good all over the island... There's no food on any all inclusive on Cozumel that can compare to the restaurants that you have to choose from

Hope that helps

You can stay All Inclusive at Casa del Mar. I think it's $39/per day, per person. The shore diving there isn't bad. There's a little 5 foot or so ledge at 25 feet and some coral heads. There are also artificial reef structures near the south end of where the catamarans are moored.
