I am contemplating a purchase of an AquaLung/Seaquest BC, and have had a freeze-up of a XS Scuba AirWave inline octo / inflator in 44 deg. F water, so I was wondering what your AirSource is rated for ... I bought a Titan LX Supreme just for that dive trip last weekend for dry suit certification in Alexandria Bay, NY, due to the water temp, didn't want to trust my Aeris A1, instructor had doubts and dive shop owner checked w/ his Aeris rep, who said no Aeris reg is rated for sub 50F waters (although my classmate had no trouble with his A1) ...but I really like the idea of reducing number of hoses, so how would the AirSource compare to my Titan LX octo? I don't want to give air to a buddy thru the Titan LX Supreme primary 2d and have the octo-inflator in my own mouth malfunction before we get topside.

i was not impressed with my air source (based on the rave reviews it got) and would go with the TLX octo....just my $0.02

I've used an AirSouce2 for years, it works fine. Alternates aren't designed to be high performance, but more durable and trustworthy in an emergency. I've heard the 3 isn't as good as the 2, but the best explanation I got was "it feels cheaper".

the hose does not "flex" as well either...when using it and turning my head to the left, it felt like i had to "push" harder since the hose didn't seem to want to bend/flex like that.

Hi Leon7997,
Either one will do fine in coldwater so it comes down to your personal preference. Both the LX Octo and the AS3 have passed the stringent EN250 test in Europe for coldwater use for temps below 50 F.
