It may be because of the storm here in Denver. With Denver being a major hub city of United, there are over 400 flights cancelled into and out of Denver today.

edit: I did notice the Frontier flight to Coz was not cancelled. That means the return flight 84 will probably make it.

I am scheduled to head out on UA 1550 at 3:45 and the United website shows it on time.
Yup, 1549 will turn into 1550 on the return. Sayin' 14 minute delay right now. They can usually make up a few minutes in the air with a higher power setting...
I'll keep an eye on it and post back in an hour or so when 1549 is scheduled to have left IAH.
1549 is coming from Tampa as 1273 and is running two hours late.
1273 started as 1138 from IAH to Tampa and was on time this morning.

nope, hence the reason I need some input :)

I may go ahead and get a hotel for the night. Just didn't want to spend the extra money. by the time I drive to Houston to save the miles, pay to park my car, pay for a hotel, I could have spent a little more and just paid for a straight through flight and not worried about the miles ......... oh well. Not really sure why I collect miles. :dontknow:
254 miles to the airport?! I have Delta miles sitting unused because I won't drive to DFW. I spent $300 to move some to my daughter's account, doubled, so we'd have enough to take the family to DC the following summer, and we both have VIP status with the airline from the old days - free bags anyway and such. Then even tho she told me to go for that, while I was searching dates that might work, she lost interest. I wasn't following Lubbock news, then too late learned that they quit Lubbock again. 4 or 5 free tickets, wasting away.

4 or 5 hours in an airport is hell. 10 hours will be unbearable, and you're getting on a Blackbeard's?! Damn. Kayak shows a $40 hotel less than a mile from the airport. It may be a dump, but a better place for your bags while you find food, a bed, and the last shower you will see for a week.

The Hampton Inn close to the Miami airport has its own shuttle bus and a couple of really good restaurants within walking distance.
I have lots of Hilton points so that's the way I swing!!! (not Paris Hilton either)

UA 1549 is in the air that will turn into UA 1550 on the return to IAH. Its an hour late but its heading to the Island. I hope that you make your connection. Be well, safe travels...
United (UA) #1549 ? 09-Mar-2013 ? KIAH - MMCZ / CZM Flight Tracker ? FlightAware

Edit: Pilot is trying to make up time. Climbing through 33,000 feet and going 50 knots over flight planned speed. We'll see if the headwinds get him slowed down...

Yes, I am getting on Blackbeard's. I will actually be staying in a hotel one night in Nassau before getting on Blackbeards, so will be able to get at least one good nights sleep and a shower before we leave. However, I am leaning toward just going with the cheapest hotel in Miami I can find for the layover instead of staying at the the airport. Thanks for the advice.

I haven't tried the Matrix ITA software, as it doesn't work on my iPad

Why not, I wonder? Are you using the app available in the App Store, called "On the Fly" for this? It works just fine on my iPhone and claims it works on iPad.

Does it pick up routes and fares for ALL Airlines, including Southwest, AirTrans, and Sun Country, which normally only sell through their own websites?

Certainly does, and jetBlue as well.

This is one area, though, where I'll use a computer whenever possible. There are just so many options available and I look at so many different scenarios that the larger screen, keyboard, and different layout and workflow of the website make a difference. It could also be that I don't have an iPad and would love it there, but on an iPhone it becomes a bit tedious.

On my most recent flight from Cozumel, I opted for the least expensive route, which gave me a 15 hour layover in Atlanta... I did not have a great time. The savings was not significant enough to do it again. I would, if I saved a large percentage of the cost, otherwise, it isn't worth it at all. ATL has minute suites, which I didn't stay at (I think they advertised $30 per hour or two, I should look before posting, but this computer is molasses slow).

Thanks much, msstevens. I had not found the On the Fly App until you pointed it out. I just used the website pointed out earlier, and it would not run on the mobile version of Safari on iPad. I just downloaded the App, so I'm prepared next time.

I don't use computer phones at all so know nothing about them. Appreciate those who do explaining. :thumb:
