I'm planning a trip to Grand Cayman for May 2014. Currently I'm researching airfare and have no idea what would be considered a good or average price for airfare to Grand Cayman. I'll be flying from Arizona. The current rate via United through Houston is $621 RT. Anybody have any knowledge of average airfare prices to Grand Cayman?

You're in the ballpark, flights for May are $594, $614 or $621 depending on day of the week and stops.

American has flights thru IAH for $614 in the early part of the month.

Most of the major airlines/travel portals consolidate their data here (except Southwest):

Matrix - ITA Software

If this link expires, there's an option on the main screen to see all fares for the month. You can also access the same data thru Google Flights - Google owns MatrixITA.

That Matrix site is the best, with a little study and practice. Steve's link expired, so start here - which looks the same, but goes to page 1: Matrix - ITA Software

Outcomes vary with details. Arizona is a big state but I guess you'll be leaving from Phoenix, wanting to stay a week, and avoid overnight flights - an option I always try to uncheck - the red ellipse on pic. Four airlines have similar fares, but not knowing your actual dates - I did not check details on connections, etc. other than to look at one as an American example: Connects in Miami - the worst! Over 4 hour layover going and over 7 hour layover returning - sucks. Ok so I looked a little more, at a Continental ticket that costs more: Connects in Houston - much better than Miami, but one plan only gave 49 minutes to connect going, less than 2 hours to clear I&C and connect returning - scary! But if you get dates picked out, maybe you can find better connections.

Thank you Steve & Don. Don you are correct in your assumptions regarding avoiding overnight flight, long or short/risky layovers and avoiding Miami if possible. I am flying from Phoenix 5/1-5/9. I'm thinking my best option currently is the 5am flight on United for $621.00.

Yeah, that 7:25am United flight with less than an hour to connect is tight! If you missed, you might be severely delayed. Looks like all they have on returns is the 1h 14m connection. If I&M is backed up, that's challenging - but I guess they do it every day. Maybe they have special handling to make it work. I played with those dates as compared to travel time durations and I don't see anything better. Have a great trip. :pilot:
