We are leaving for Bonaire on Saturday morning, May 13, from Atlanta via Montego Bay on Air Jamaica.

I know most airlines now enforce a 50 pounds per bag limit on checked luggage, but I need information on AJ's carry-on policy. I have read on this or another board that they limit you to one carry-on and NO personal item--briefcase or purse, etc.

I have been trying to get info on their web site, but, for now, I can't get their site to respond.

Has anyone flown them lately who can provide info on the carry-on rules?

Thanks in advance...

I 'll be on that flight. I've heard it both ways. I just talked to air jamaica and they said they allow one carry on and one personal item. with a personal item being a laptop purse or briefcase. I was planning on trying to get on with a small roller bag and a small backpack. However, when I asked about the backpack(in addition to the roller bag) he said I'd have to get it cleared at the service counter on the day of the flight. Thats a little late if they say no so i'm repacking now.

See you saturday

Since I started the thread, a brief follow-up to the carry-on policy. I finally got a reply from Air Jamaica to my email inquiry--after two days.

Their policy is one carry-on of 30 pounds or less and a "small" purse or briefcase. I had already repacked to carry-on by dive gear except my fins and check one bag with clothing and the fins.

Regardless, I'm leaving Saturday and we're pumped.

I fly Air Jamaica on a regular basis. I catty a roll on and a back pack. Never had a problem. But if you want problems Air Jamaica is your airline. One of the most poorly operated an administered airlines I have ever forced to use. I have tales to tell.

JP...pls let us know how it goes. AJ does have a pretty bad rep mostly but supposedly they have done some revamping. Curious to hear how your flight goes.
