I am so glad I live in the USA.The Tank Monkey didn't lie. He was following house rules and we all should honor that.
Where I am, in Germany, it is forbidden by law to put Nitrox in a tank not labeled "Nitrox". This law goes even further. You must have a "Nitrox Only" tank valve, first and second stage and all three must be color-coded as such. The Nitrox first stage is a different size and cannot be used with a standard tank valve.
If you get caught putting anything other than EAN 21 in a standard SCUBA tank or using Nitrox without a labeled Nitrox tank and a Nitrox dedicated first and second stage, you could have your license revoked and you can be hit with HEAVY fines.
According to the kid filling my tanks that day in Big Pine Key, someone from the "government" came to the shop and told them that air cannot be loaded into a nitrox marked tank.
Have an idea, come to the neighbour country, the Netherlands. No worries about Nitrox stickers and stuff at least. Can't guaranty better diving conditions thoughI can guarantee you that I won't ever be diving in Germany.
