Logged my 8Th dive on tuesday. Beach dive, 200 Yards to reef. Started with 2900 PSI and ended 55 Minutes later @ 600 PSI. Am I consuming to much air? What can I do, besides the obvious, to slow my consumption rate. Would Free Diving techniques be beneficial? Hate to repeat a question that has been answered a thousand times. Just curious.

I had the same problem when I started. At night when I'm in the lazy boy, I lay a 10-15 pound(what ever is comfortable) weight on my chest and breath 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out. Try it, it worked gtrat for me.

That's not bad at all and it will depend on what you were doing anyway.

Practice the XALER method and you will improve in time. :D

To answer your question, yes! proper freedive training would be beneficial. Check out the freediving forum while you're at it.eyebrow

Looks great to me, especially after a two hundred yard swim. I'd be happy. I hear the best thing to do is dont sweat it and keep diving often....it'll come with experience. I've notice that I get better and more comfortable with each dive.

Hey abysmaldiver, try the same weight with it across your stomach to strengthen the diaphragm. It's a great workout. I like the large rice bags since they conform to your stomach.

I was Lobstering that dive. Using an AL80. What exactly is the XALER method? I will have to try the weighted breathing routine. Thanks for the advive. STAY WET.
