I exhale through my nose a fair amount....I didn't know this until last weekend (my hood always fills up with air, giving me a big pocket at the highest point....I never knew why until my hubby said the only way for it to do that would be for me to exhale through my mask since the skirt sits under the hood). I also have constant mask-leaking issues and am always clearing it.

You may also subconsciously exhale through your nose, which allows water to seep in. I'm going to work on exhaling only through my mouth, but I suspect it will be a tough habit to break since I ddin't even notice I was doing it before!

Could be a tiny tiny leak in the mask. Even if its so small you dont notice at all on a dive it'll produce an annoying stream of bubbles.

Or like me you breathe out through your nose all the time. (Yes id be useless on a rebreather)

I have the same problem right now with my mask. I have had my mask three years and this summer it has developed the leak. It is at my LDS and he has suggested it may be something that can be repaired. I would take it in for inspection/repair before you have the 'blow-out'.

Yes the mask did flood but in a slow process, I kept having to clear it every few minutes.

Well then it's leaking. Either the mask as described above or the seal around your face. I had a mustache when I dove which caused a slow leak (which I suspect is not your problem). I handle this by exhaling through my nose intentionally which served to purge the mask when my head was in the right position. It was a non-event.
My mask is 6 years old, original strap and still no sign of wear.

After I read your reply it got me thinking so I went and watched the video of my last dive and I think it's directly related to my exhale too. I just breathe so much that it seems constant. I must have been trying to breathe through my nose or something. Thanks!

I bet it was my bangs! They drive me crazy. I'll double check the hair next time. Thanks for your help.
