For those of you interested in learning more about shipwrecks and archaeology, AIMA is running its a Part 1 Course in Sydney on 23-24 November.

This is a 2-day introduction to maritime archaeology that is suitable for divers an non-divers alike. The course focuses on aspects such as pre-disturbance, or in other words, non-intrusive surveys of shipwreck sites, such as:

- Archaeological principles
- Archaeological sciences
- Materials and conservation
- Ship construction
- Archaeological Surveying
- Search techniques
- Site position-fixing
- Remote sensing
- State/Territory and Commonwealth legislation

The Part 1 costs $210 and combines theoretical lecture components and practical (land-based) exercises. The fee includes all course materials and and includes a 1-year AIMA Membership. You will also receive an international accreditation with the Nautical Archaeology Society.
