Messing around with an AI program today. I asked it to, "Create a line drawing of a vintage scuba diver opening a treasure chest." Here is what it generated. Kinda steam-punk. 😁

Please add the words steam punk, and show us the ∆

When I add the words "steam punk" I get basically the same image but with a bunch of gears and sprockets where the mask is. Here is what AI imagined "Great White Shark attacks lizard" looks like. 😎

That first image is pretty cool IMO. It would be better if the steam punk aspect applied to the fish. Like the fish are robotic/mechanical.

The knucles need some hair to manify them, the claw on the chest lid needs a hand

Is this the beginning of the death of the artist? 😢
Or does it make something done by a human hand
worth that much more?
no. AI makes very ai stuff.

AI also strangely has a ton of trouble rendering fins. If you want to differentiate yourself, be sur to include divers' signature items.

I remember once I was lettering an exterior wall in at the Oakville Grocery in Napa Valley.
Of course Napa Valley is extremely touristy and people are there from all around the world. So I’m up on a ladder lettering away in my zone and sense something behind me. I look down and there are about 20 people standing there watching in total amazement that somebody could actually hand paint letters. But this is the way we did it for years! There were no computers or plotters!
I remember when sign painters were considered the scum of the Earth and people would just about kick you out of the way to get by or walk a wide circle around you. Computer cut graphics have taken over 99% of the sign industry and nobody hand paints anymore, except for me. And I get the big bucks for doing it.
It’s not going to be long before fine art including oil painting impasto’s will be 3D printed in colored emulsions and the layout will be 100% made up by an artificial brain.
That’s when a human will be out there on site painting plein air with an audience that can’t believe somebody can do that by hand. The artist will HAVE to be out there to prove it actually was done by hand by a human.
When AI finally topples the NY hoity toity art world I will be laughing my ass off!!🤣
