Messing around again with AI. :)

Is this the beginning of the death of the artist? 😢
Or does it make something done by a human hand
worth that much more?
It just points out yet again that humans are nothing special and easily replaceable.

I don’t know how to respond to that.

But didn’t a human set this AI machine up to do this? Or has AI developed it’s own artificial brain needed to program itself?
If nobody does anything anymore what will we talk about at cocktail parties?

I remember once I was lettering an exterior wall in at the Oakville Grocery in Napa Valley.
Of course Napa Valley is extremely touristy and people are there from all around the world. So I’m up on a ladder lettering away in my zone and sense something behind me. I look down and there are about 20 people standing there watching in total amazement that somebody could actually hand paint letters. But this is the way we did it for years! There were no computers or plotters!
I remember when sign painters were considered the scum of the Earth and people would just about kick you out of the way to get by or walk a wide circle around you. Computer cut graphics have taken over 99% of the sign industry and nobody hand paints anymore, except for me. And I get the big bucks for doing it.
It’s not going to be long before fine art including oil painting impasto’s will be 3D printed in colored emulsions and the layout will be 100% made up by an artificial brain.
That’s when a human will be out there on site painting plein air with an audience that can’t believe somebody can do that by hand. The artist will HAVE to be out there to prove it actually was done by hand by a human.
When AI finally topples the NY hoity toity art world I will be laughing my ass off!!🤣
We have one customer who gets all of his trucks lettered and pin striped by the same guy.
He comes in our shop a few times per year and spends about 6 hours on each new tractor.
He has done a few vehicles for me over the years. He gives me a fair price since he is already there working in our heated shop. It adds a nice custom touch that can't be duplicated by vinyl.

AI is currently programming itself. There have been a lot of languages that AI has learned with no external programming of it.

Who’s the guy? I probably know him.
My Instagram handle is @ericsedletzkysigns.
Pretty much 95% of what I do is letter and pinstripe big rigs by hand. The other 5% is pinstriping hot rods, lettering vintage race cars, and once in a great while I will do some hand lettered signs for a business.

I would have to grab his card out of my toolbox. I would almost guarantee he isn't on instagram or any kind of social media. He is an older guy, probably in his late 70s. He ambles in with a hand carry wooden toolbox full of supplies and gets right to work. His striping is all free hand. His lettering is done with pencil first. He still does gold leaf for one of my customers. Boar's Head meat trucks are all hand lettered and actual gold leaf.
