AHHH... VR3... piece of crap

Already posted this on the dive computer thread but am reposting it here as this is where the guys who generally use this gear hang out... so here is my question:

just lately my vr3 has been doing crazy s&*t... taking me on ficticious dives to a thousand feet while I'm sitting on the couch.... then locking me into guage mode (of course this happens when I'm now off the couch and ready to go diving).
had a quick look in the book and it says to check the port on the back of the computer as it may become plugged and give false depth readings... but I checked and its perfectly clear.
Now as you all know I'm a big ratio deco fan but still... this is a 1500 dollar computer that shouldnt be doing this b.s. And the crazy part is that my dive buddy (with a vr3 of his own) is having the same kinda problems now and then.
Any one else having this issue?

Have you tried a new battery? I've had some crazy things happen when batteries get low. And just because it's a new battery, dont assume its good. I've had some of the 3.6 volt batteries from Radio Shack that sat on the shelf so long they only lasted a week once I put them in.

lol, maybe..
new battery in it. first thing i checked and its still reading 3.3 volts. My buddy also talked to the local dealer and he says every couple years you are suppose to send them back in for calibration... at your cost of course (he mentioned it was around 80 pounds... or $150 bucks)
something dont seem right...
have it on expert mode and really like this thing.... when its working properly.

Just funnin' with you. I never had the problem you are having, but then again I didn't own it for very long. My tiny stupid brain could never remember all of the short/long/left/right pushes. It was annoying as heck to get stuck on a screen while hanging.

Yanked the batteries and it seems good... but after all the short short long short button pushes I think my fingures are bent....

Never understood why someone would own a computer that just gives you the tables when you have that "ahh bleep" dive. Didn't you pay $XXXX for a computer and $5 for a plastic set of tables

Anyway if you need the name of a good shearwater dealer let me know:cool2:

Yup... it was a painfull expensive progression from VR3 to ratio deco...
All I can say good about the VR3 is that in expert mode with the screen saver on it has a kick ass depth averaging screen. But other than that my Tec 2G outperforms it hands down for ratio deco purposes in guage mode. (and you dont even have to spend the $5 bucks on plastic tables)

This is definately one of those "if I knew then what I know now" situations... (fingure tips still bent)
