Ive been diving for and 7 months and am tired of renting...I've been studying BC's for a few weeks now and have narrowed my choices down to 3 different ones. If anyone has dove these three BC's please post you feelings towards them. Right now I only have my advanced and nitrox certifications but in September I am taking the Rescue course and in the next year I am hoping to move into Wreck diving and in the next two years some more technical stuff, so please take that into account when you leave comments. Thanks!!!

1.Aeris Reef Rider
2.Tusa Imprex Pro Back-Inflation
3.Dive Rite Transpak with either Trek or Rec Wings

If it matters, after a 10 year break I decided to get a DSS BP/W to replace my old back inflate BC. I'll post my impressions when it arrives next week and I have a chance to dive it (or maybe a pool review before that!). I almost bought the Transpac system, but since I only dive singles and the DR system is much more expensive, I went with DSS.

If those were my only choices, I'd go wtih the Dive Rite.

I would SERIOUSLY consider opening that range up to a good bp/w (back plate with wing) if you want to get into tech diving, however. The TransPac might cut it for some light tech diving, but a full bp/w setup will work a lot better for it. And I found it to be a lot more comfortable. Try the TransPlate if you want a more interim solution... converting to a hog harness down the road costs peanuts.

Out of those three, I'd go with the Dive Rite but I'd prefer a harness that doesn't havwe so many "features"

I just had the same problem but yesterday I found out a solution. I went out and bought Transpac 2 with Rec Wing. Beautiful design and feels very nice on. Haven't been to water with it yet though...

I would go with the DiveRite of the ones you list.
I have a Halcyon EclipseMC. Excellent BP/W. If you are interested in Wreck, Tec maybe cave stuff in the future look at Halcyon as well. Not only is the Eclipse great for very advanced diving, but it is also excellent for more recreational diving. Also check out the new Halcyon Evolve.

Good luck!

Alex

You will get a lot of suggestions on doing a bp and wing....and I agree.
As for your third choice....I would suggest rather than the Transpac..go with the Transplate and you will have better stability with doubles and if you wish to do more techie stuff you are almost there bcd wise.....depending on the harness you get

If you want to do techincal diving, get a BP/W. You'll end up going there eventually. Might as well start now. And it'll save you some money.
