Hi, Iv been using this forum for a few months just out of intrest and for information, to absorb some diving wisdom. Now however I have a dilema and have decided to create and account here and see if anyone can help.

Im sorry if this seems like moving back onto the old question of LDS or internet but its my birthday very soon and I am wanting to team up with my parents and get a Sea quest Pro QD+ BCD. I have looked on the internet and found the BCD for £230 equivelent (including shipping) from leisurepro.com. I have also looked around my LDSs in Manchester and got a quote of £260 from them.

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with Leisurepro.com and/or shipping from foreign sites and what people think of the BCD itself (bearing in mind I do not want to spend more than that range of money).

Also I am curious as I have heard that there is some issue with waranty on the Sea Quest BCD if you buy it through an internet site? Is this true or have I heard wrong?

Any Wisdom or advice is welcome, I'd love to here all points of view.
(There are many dive shops in Manchester (UK) where I live so the shop I buy it from could very well not be the dive shop I use in the future)

Thanks,
Matt.

I am not familiar with Leisure Pro as an overseas shipper but they have done well by me here in the states. I have not been using them for fit or service intensive items.

How much of an error or problem will it take to burn through the £30 you are looking to save? I would try and buy locally on this one.

Pete

hi Matt,

i agree with Pete. for the sake of 30 quid there is no point taking a huge gamble with an overseas unlicensed supplier.

now, if it was 200 quid.............

Joe

Thanks for your responses.

I think il give a few of the shops a visit, try it on etc.

Thanks for the advice.

From what I have seen statistically for the price the Sea quest Pro QD+ seems to be the best one I can afford. I however have no experience with many BCDs. Is this the best one for the money? Are there better ones? (Il be diving tropical and cold water (with dry suit is possible too)?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Matt - You picked a topic that has been debated and will continue to be debated in great controversy. Buy Online or from LDS. I have done both. I leave that decision up to you.
Of late, I have been buying mostly from LDS.

Warrantee - there are warrantee issues buying online. Question if you want a Manufacturers Warrantee or a Store warrantee. Some online shops have the ability to offer manufacturer warrantee, Leisure Pro typically can not offer manufacturer warrantee. They offer a store warrantee. From what I have read, they stand behind their sales.

To me, if the price difference is reasonable, I buy from the LDS.

Happy Shopping - Tom

thanks for the information on the warranty, thats useful to know.
Im onto deciding now whether the Sea Quest BCD is the best for the price range. The only bad point iv read about is the pockets. How bad are these? and are there any better BCDs for that kind of price?

Matt.
