I'm thinking about getting an AGA but I am having problems with the possible set-up.

Demand AGA runs off of a 123psi +/- 5psi intermediate pressure.(I don't know if this can be changed)
My First Stage (DX4 just incase it matters) has an intermediate of 140 +/- 5psi. (I think this can be changed)
I want either my SlimLine Octo or Delta 2 to remain as an Octo. (I do not know what intermediate P they run off, or whether or not it can be changed).

As you can tell I havn't needed to play around technically with my gear before.

So, how would you dive gods set-up this gear ?

Any suggestions are appreciated

Thanks for your help

AGAs are a fine mask, but it sounds like you may also want to take a look at Poseidon's FFM, the Atmosphere. It has a Jetstream reg that's used to running off 145 psi. The reg is also switchable between normal demand & positive pressure, a neat trick.

Have to admit I would need to pull the reference on this one...

I use the positive pressure and they handle a wide range of intermediate pressures very well. (90 - 165 no problem)

My gut experience tells me it would be no problem but I would prefer to reference it before making a purchase. Any paticular reason you are interested in the demand over the positive pressure?

Since Bob started the different mask recommendations...

Have you taken a look at the Kirby Morgan products? They incorperate a fantasticaly adjustable regulator. From demand to full free flow and intermediate pressures from 90 psi to 210 psi.

I am very partial to the M-48 for SCUBA...

If no one chimes in before morning, I have some reference material at work.

Good luck on your purchase,

Jeff Lane

I've been using demand and positive pressure AGA a lot at work and prefer the demand over PP because:
demand uses less air
when wearing demand I can wear the mask less tight (more comfortable on long dives)
I'm not diving in contaminated water

How's this. Say there's a whip off my 1st stage that has a piece on it that regulates from 140psi down to 125psi. A "whip regulator" that is not attached to my tank. Does anything like that exist or am I dreaming ?

Nothing I know of exists that meets that description. Any type of restriction in the whip is just going to ruin the efficiency of the regulator in any case.

Basically that is what we are talking about here anyway, where the regulator functioned most optimally for evaluation...

If you have the units at work couldn't you bring in your 1st stage and give it a try?

The mask is designed to function with a fairly wide range of pressure and unless you are near 200 psi (14 Bar) your not going to have to worry about overiding the spring tension of the regulator seat.

Demand AGA runs off of a 123psi +/- 5psi intermediate pressure

Were did you find this reference? I was not able to find it in the manual, it does mention diving the apparatus in surface supplied mode through a wide variety of pressure ranges...

A guy at work gave me the 123psi quote. I'll check around a bit more today, see if I get any different responses.
