I have been looking at an Aeris package at Scuba Toys, it has a Pro reg. Does anyone have experience with it? Any advice? We have used Mares Rebels and my wife did not like the effort at greater depths. Will the balanced first stage be better? We only dive in warm tropical waters of Texas in the summer, and when we can, go to the Carribean. We would like to be able to go deep on occasion about 100', but mostly shallow dives. We would also like to spent the bulk of our diving budget on travel, rather than gear.

Any advice is helpful.

thanks,

Let me be the first to welcome you to the board Danny!

Have you spoken with Joe or Larry at ScubaToys? They have used them, along with many other models, and will be happy to give you their impressions.

I also purchased the same reg from ScubaToys, but won't be diving it until my trip in May, though I will be playing around in my pool some in the coming month. :D

Here's a post regarding the reg. Do a search and you will find even more posts:

I have the Aeris Atmos pro. It certainly isn't a high end reg but will deliver plenty of air at recreational depths, at least it has for me. I have also had it in cold water (51F) and have not had any free flow issues. My biggest complaint against it is if I get into a heads down position the reg breathes very wet.

I dive with an Oceanic GT reg, it has the adjustable flow knob, breaths really nice though I have yet to take it below 60ft...my wife has the Oceanic Alpha 8 also a nice reg...both are more than adecuate for warm water diving such as the one you mention and I do...and both run for less than $200 at www.divers-supply.com where we bought them, add a slime line guage and slimeline octo for less than $200 also... they have really good service, good delivery, and they are an authorized dealer....If you call instead of ordering online you might get additional discounts.

Forgot to mention Aeris & Oceanic are the same company or sister companies...and I believe the Aeris Pro might be Oceanic's GT equivalent...also, though I'm sure some ScubaBoarder's might not agree, consider their 1st stages with DVT (dry-valve-technology), its an additional security option, for a few bucks more...just some additional info for your consideration.
Happy buying!

I have the aeris atmos pro also.. in my opinion it's a great reg.. I've taken it to 130' with absolutely no probs, the swivel on the first stage is very useful.. its a wonderful reg which breathes perfectly. However, the viper octo you might want to swap out I don't like it that much, it doesnt breathe too well at least in my opinion. But the atmos pro is definately the way to go .
