I have been toying with upgrading to a Elite from an AI (which I love, just looking for an excuse to spend my hard earned money). I really like the wireless idea underwater.

I just think it's annoying that you lose signal at all. I know it links back up realtively quickly, but still. I know, I'm anal. More than likely I will hold of until Aeris upgrades their software which is pretty pathetic.

Also Aeris is coming out with another wrist mounted wireless computer. It's smaller and can, if you so desire, get info from your buddies computer should he have the same model. I'm not sure if it will get info from an Elite or not... would be neat if it could. I think this may be wishful thinking on Aeris' part if it the Elite loses signal from a wrist mount 3-4 feet away... how is gonna read another computer from 10-15 feet away?

Cool idea though... actually gonna check out there site to see if there's any info on it yet.

Here's what I found in the Aeris 2005 Product catalog on the EPIC Hoseless Dive Watch Computer

  • Hoseless Air Intergrated
  • Switch between 3 independent transmitters, up to 3 Nitrox mixes
  • Advanced watch functions including alternative time zone, stop watch, lap timer, daily alarm, and countdown timer
  • Alpha-Numeric display
  • Adjustable saftey stop line
  • History Mode
  • Pc Download and Settings Upload Software and USB Computer Cable INCLUDED
I got the info about reading anothers computer from the Aeris Sales rep at the Ten City Scuba Diving tour. I guess in theory you could throw another transmitter on your buddies First Stage and get the info that way. But like I said having it transmit a decent distance underwater is another story.

I love my Elite, sure it occasionally loses signal, but only for a second or two, and that is rarely. Yeah, the software could be designed better, maybe some of you programming wizards out there could design an application to use the Elites data and make it more diver friendly.
Definetly a product worth purchasing and a company that stands behind their computers.

  • Well, since Aeris and Oceanic are sorta' the same company... you see the elite which is the same as a vt pro, or in this case, the Epic that isn't out yet, is the Aeris version of the Oceanic Atom.
