Does anyone know the difference between the Aeris AT 400 ION (with no suffix) and the Sport or Pro versions? I've found one on sale online, but other than the price tag, I can't tell the difference from the Sport model. Visually it looks identical to the ION Swivel listed on Aeris' website... but without the swivel on the second stage.

Is this possibly an older model before the swivel was made a model of its own? I also notice that both the Sport and Pro are missing swivels (on Aeris' site, at least).

And final question, assuming there isn't something fatally flawed about the model I'm looking at, any thoughts it being a good first reg for my wife who has just started diving?

(P.S., sorry for being a little vague on where I'm finding this; I'm a bit new to posting here and am not 100% sure of the rules about posting links to vendors.)

?????However water ingestion is mainly caused when charging regs with water in the tank valve or on the mating surfaces of valve and reg. So I see absolutely no positive value of DVT unless you are a soaker with a less than waterproof cap. Why make a hole and then turn it into 1/4 of a hole. Restricting the size of this orifice will not affect air flow until the same diver that these valves are deigned to be proofed from permits growth of verdigris from the water they are going to blast in there anyway or the ingestion of other contaminants. This "technology" will go by the wayside.
I prefer a manufacturers swivel on the first stage. You can add a second stage swivel yourself.

Huh? Was that in response to my question?
I don't speak for Knowone, but I think he was commenting on the "Dry Valve Technology" in the Aeris AT400 Pro with DVT. (Not that you asked directly) I've used the AT400 Pro with DVT for the last 3 yrs. and have been pleased with it. No problems to date. If I have any complaints, it would be that it breathes just a tad wet when I'm upside down. Not a problem for me, the humidity lately has caused wetter breathing standing outdoors than my reg upside down at 100ft.
(Edit: I can't say the DVT solves a problem, but; it hasn't created one for me either)
