What do you all recommend for the sampling rate on the 500ai?

The default is every 10 feet. the options are 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 & 30 seconds, or 2, 5, 10 feet. I understand the more often, the less memory for dives; and the more often the smoother the charting. Anyone have a feel for how may can be logged at the various settings? and, does it really matter all that much?

I had a one button Oceanic Data Plus that only logged at 10' intervals. The download data was useless.

My newer hockey puck has user settings similar to the Aeris (duh.. they are both Pelagic). Most of the time I leave it at 5 second sampling --- that gives me a pretty detailed graph of the profile. 2 seconds doesn't seem to give much more useful info and just takes longer to download.

To get a feel for how much data it can hold, you could always start off at 2 seconds until you finally fill up the memory.
