I am considering in the purchase of new regs and am wondering if anyone has had the pleasure or displeasure of using a couple of scuba pro regs.the models are MK16/S550
and the MK20/S600.I dive at a recreational level in the cold pacific northwest(BC canada). Are these regs nitrox compatable up to 40%.are they easily serviced?will they bust the bank?are they overkill for my type of diving?anyways let me know what you know.thanks in advance. Les

I use the MK16/S550, and LOVE it! My "better half" (as HE likes to call himself) has the MK20/S600, and I've used it, and truthfully, can't tell the difference. The S550 doesn't have as adjustment dial on the side (controls airflow) but that doesn't bother me at all.

Both are good to go for Nitrox mixes up to 40%. But, if you plan on diving nitrox consistantly, you may want to think about getting the O-rings changed to Viton on your first service. Viton just handles the higher concentration of O2 better than normal O-rings.

I like the MK16 (diaphram) 1st stage...mainly because I'm REALLY bad about rinsing my gear, and diaphrams seem to be able to take more of my kind of abuse better than piston (MK20). And...the price is very reasonable!

Hope this helps!

You should be considering the MK18 and mark20. It boils down to cost, if you can afford it buy the MK20 g250-s600 reg. Also factor in a 190 octopus.
The MK16 has 1 HP port, the MK18/MK20 2 HP ports so u cant compare MK16 to MK20/MK18.

All breath (Mk16-Mk20) surpass the US Navy 199 feet stds.

I have a couple of Mk20/G500's and love them. Either way you can't go wrong.
