The only good Titan Triggerfish is a dead Titan triggerfish.

You can avoid them by:

A) Not getting in the water

B) Swimming around them and giving them a wide berth when you see them facing down over one spot fanning their nest (free-swimming triggers are not much of a danger but should also be killed on principle).

c) Approaching them and putting a spear through these finned spawn of the Devil

I hope this helps.

I can provide suitable recipes if required.

Kill them all and let god sort the dead.

Cheers,
Rohan.

Titan Triggerfish actually serve the reef and divers by extension. They love to chomp on crown-of-thorns, which are unpleasant to touch and destroy the reef.

Many things on the reef can do a diver harm if they are f'd with. Eels for example can strip the flesh off your finger, however few would advocate killing eels in the name of safety.

great advice guys. good thing my first encounter with a 2ft long titan was not "violent" in any way. i was within 10ft of it, and was surprised to see the thing... heartbeat was racing too fast even superman couldn't possibly catch up :D

funny...i'm more scared of titans than reef sharks now

The only fish to ever attack me was a Titan Trigger Fish. It was in the Red Sea.
As wedivebc said, swim horizontaly out of their territory. If attacked, turn on your back so you can see him coming and kick him with the fins when he comes too close.
Oh yeah, praying may or may not help. :D

You're absolutely right. Eels are on my list now too.
