You can install thigh pockets on a drysuit, but not sure if that works wet.
You can dive with a fanny pack, or there are plenty of manufactures with add a pocket options.
Zeagle and others make add a pocket options the fit on a waist belt.
Those funky add pockets shorts things work well. I've seen them and even tried them on!
You can check out what the DIR guys do, as there systems are generally sound.
I don't dive with a lot of stuff. My Zeagle Stiletto has a couple small pockets and when I travel all I need is an extra mask, and a SS and light which I hang on a DRing. When diving dry the BP/W has enough DRings for all my junk, and I do have an add on pocket which I rarely use.
