Looking for ideas to mount a action cam vertically

I own Go Pros & DJI action 5

You could just change the aspect ratio with your GoPro if you don't like the horizontal default.

On the DJI, I would record in 4x3 and then crop to vertical to give yourself flexibility in framing. I have a DJI Action 4. Not sure the capabilities of the GoPro.

With the GoPro you can do it that way or just choose 9:16 vertical.

That being said, a quick search on Amazon for "GoPro vertical mount" brings up several.

The dji is a new edition, until now I’ve been a GoPro person. Looking forward to using it and comparing with my friend who has bought the insta.

Wondered if there was an option for guidelines on the screen to help with framing

You can set up a Grid and / or Diagonal to help keep things centered. You can crop to a vertical format with a video editor and retain quality since you are capturing the entire 4x3 worth of pixels. Take your pick of editors. I've used both iMovie and DaVinci Resolve.

DJI Action cams have a mount point on the end specifically for vertical/portrait shooting. Am I misunderstanding the question?

Yes, the Osmo Action has a vertical mount when used with their magnetic mount on a selfie stick with the DJI mount adapter. I assume the question was more for mounting / shooting / editing to create vertical images when in an underwater housing which only has a horizontal mount.

Thank you; I completely forgot about the underwater housing only having a bottom mount. With that reminder, definitely agree on "fix it in post".

And... if you shoot in 4x3, pretty much full resolution, you should get good results when you crop to fit. It is more 'forgiving' of cropping with a small screen.
