I aced my written test, it was a lot easier than I figured it would be.

One more dip in the pool and the OW test. CANNOT WAIT FOR WARM WATER!

Fail to see the point in waiting.
Drysuits were invented for a reason.

Same here in PA. 29-30 deg. air and 40-41 water, still dive wet...little bit cold during SI though

I would love to be diving right now, but there is nowhere to go :( Just 2 more days in Feb. for my Nitrox cert. Then I have to wait until mid-april to go again, at least locally.

Hey, can you get drysuit training before your OW dive? Has anyone done an under ice dive for their OW?? Or used a drysuit for their OW dive?

Congratulations!

Now get out there and dive. Going wet is entirely doable. We dove with an old guy today who went wet in 39F. I'm not suggesting that but I don't think you need to worry about that in OW cert depths in VA.

This way you will have your cold water orientation done so you are good to go for local diving where you can hone your skills and become a safe and competent diver.

Vacation will be all playtime.

Getting OW certified in a drysuit is commonplace in locations like Canada and northern Europe so yes it is a viable option. It would take a bold diver to make that investment at that point but if rentals or loaners are available it's a way to go.

Making an overhead dive (ice) in sub 40F water for an OW certification....... NO :11:

Very common to certify in drysuits in places where conditions dictate.

I'd been certified about 16 months before my first ever WET suit dive (which was abroad) and i've never dived in this country wet.

If you're going to dive the local area a lot it makes sense to train from the start on the equipment needed to do it.

As for under ice - no.

I dont know of any certification agency that allows basic training to take place in an overhead environment.
