Something you know here? Has PB been having some sort of trouble?

There have been a few posters here who have gone to Paya Bay. Some have left fairly positive reports, but I really was not all that assured of the breadth of their diving experience or their actual "dive : relax" ratio needs.

PB occupies what is easily the single most beautiful piece of real estate of any resort on the island. It is extremely remote, and thus if you wish to use their clothing optional beach, you'll be undisturbed. This is one of the few naturally occurring beaches on the Island~ and it's local geography (Alligator Nose) is spectacular.

Due to its rather low occupancy rate, they have never developed a viable in-house dive operation. If you want to dive once a day and otherwise sit on the beach or sleep on the patio- this would be a superb choice. Your GF might be quite pleased with it! Understand also that this occupancy issue has also led to rather spotty (unpredictable) food service and other things that one might see as requirements. The more you view old style Caribbean facilities as an adventure, the more likely you are to smile and enjoy the place.

A frequent poster here, NCChuck, was an employee for a short while back a few years ago, so maybe he will add some details, but for a dive vacation, I'd take a pass.

So, it may not be the best dive vacation but it should be a great vacation with a good amount of diving!

Here's our schedule:

Aug 5th fly from SFO to IAH.
Aug 6th fly from IAH to RTB
Aug 6-8th Paya Bay (hoping to dive east end either Aug 7th or 8th with whomever their dive op is. They couldn't give me a straight answer in email or over the phone. That said, even if we don't dive the location looks really beautiful and romantic... say nothing of the topless beach)
Aug 8th-15th Beach front bungalow at Island Pearl (Bananarama) and doing 15-20 dives with Bananarama plus a night dive or two.
Aug 15th heading home

Any tips on non-dive-related activities? I know it's blasphemy but thinking about taking a day out of the water. Maybe doing the butterfly reserve, zip line and maybe gumbalimba.
