Enough had been said about the bp/w system. No need to consider further, just get it. You will not regret it. Switching from a traditional bc using about 4 pc of weight to none on the bp/w, I can't explain the great feeling. And also, my back does not hurts at all.

Actually any backplate is fine, but better to get those with tank strap slot. If the wing has the slots, then in my opinion, it is more safer and stable to slot the the tank strap thru the wing and the plate instead of just relying on the STA and the 2 bolts.

I agree with Rick...

Backplate=LOTS of gas

BC=Lots of comfort

I own several BCs and 3 BP/Wings systems and have dove even more.

The only BP/Wings that I have found to be comfortable without a wetsuit is the Deep Sea Supply. It is NOT an average set up and I will be posting a report on it soon.

As for pitching forward... you are probably way over weighted. The more you have to fill your back inflate bladder (wings or BC) to float the more it will plant your face in the water. Reducing your weight reduces the amount of air needed to make you float comfortably. A small amount of air in the wing/bladder will act like a "bubble" and stay at the top. The more air, the more filled and rigid the entire wing/bladder will become and the more it will try to make you prone on the surface.

Get your self weighted correctly and you will solve this problem.
