I have a Mk25 Scubapro A700, I was thinking of replacing the A700 with an S600 2nd stage for travelling (flying) and reducing a bit of weight. Is this a pointless exercise ?

nice, thinking outside the square........

If you have that amount of cash to replace costly equipment, rather just pay the extra quarter pound or less weight penalty instead, or follow Zung's advice! You could even take it as carry-on!!!

I never check regs or computer, better my life support goes with me rather than being bounced around by who knows who. Never even had to open the bag for security....YET!

Replaceing seconds is pretty much useless considering the actual amount of weight you will save. If you really want to reduce the weight of your reg, keep the seconds and replace the first with something lighter. The vast majority of the total weight is in the first, not the second.

It depends. Are you yourself trying to fly like a bird, and therefore really need to count ounces? Otherwise, yes, totally pointless.

Sheesh, you'd think people were carrying dive gear up Mt. Everest for all the whining about extra luggage weight. Try a duffle instead of a heavy suitcase and save about 10lbs right off the bat. Then you could bring an extra 20 or so A700s for your closest friends.

Sorry for the rant, please take it with a sense of humor!
