Praise the Lord the girls aren't interested and the boys are too young yet. But, the fifth is on the way, due in March. Thanks for your insight as well.[/QUOTE]

congrats on the incoming 5th Preacher! :)

It's narrowmided to expect teenagers as a group to be up at the crack of dawn when their on vacation. They actually require more sleep than adults and many operate on less sleep than their bodies require already. Sleep deprivation is not conducive to safe or enjoyable diving.

I can't get him out of bed before noon, but, tell him we're going diving and he'll be up at 5 AM. Something is certainly wrong here!

Well, as a teen diver... I'll give my imput. I'm a night owl at heart... but if it means getting up early to go diving.. you don't have to ask me twice, I'll get up as early as needed! (And usually, if I know that I am going diving the next morning, I will go to bed earlier, so that I get all my hours in!)

On a vacation though... I hardly ever sleep in anyway.. I can do that at home! Too much to see and do somewhere where I don't get to go often!

Safe diving!

Thats my son. Will stay up till at least 2 AM on non-school days. But will go to bed earlier if diving is involved. I don't sleep well myself and may only go to bed at 3-5 AM, but will be up again no later than 8 AM. But I'm older and don't need as much sleep. I'm sure if I could remember back all those years, I might have been the same.

Sorry, but it seems to me that the problem is a bunch of spoiled kids who can't get out of bed.

That's one way to look at it... another would be that it's a bunch of spoiled adults who aren't willing to compromise on getting their own way.

If the first dive was going to happen post-sunrise, I'd prefer the late start myself. After all, it's a vacation. Of course, if the boat dives were going to mean better dives, I'd be happy to get up in time to be on them!

Why are you in such a "not a moment to spare" hurry when you're supposed to be on vacation relaxing?

Hell, I'm 43 and don't enjoy getting up early, especially on vacation. But so far, we've mostly dived off the father-in-law's boat, so we can get up and go when and where we want.
