Planning to be in Hawaii in April, go to the Big Island for 3 to 4 days and then on to Maui for a week. Would like to see the Mantas off Hawaii and during that time period will there be whales that are still around? What would be the best place to view them? A dive to area close to Molokini? or will we be able to hear them on a dive? or is the best view from a whale tour?
Thanks in advance

You will see and hear more whales if you are here early in April. Peak whale watching is late Jan through late Mar. A couple Molokini trips and at least one Lanai trip should allow you to at least see blows in the distance. Late in April, whale watch tours sometimes end up following the lone whale of the day with a couple other tour boats. There have been days in past April's with great whale watching, but it is very hard to predict who, where and when will be the optimum watching.
