It has been many years since I've purchased myself a new piece of diving equipment. Today however, I bought myself a Rolex Deep Sea. I'm looking forward to getting it wet. ;)

I purchased my first Rolex Submariner in 1972 when I went into the Navy as a diver. It blew-up in the DCIEM chamber in 1975, so I traded in the pieces and $550 and bought a Sea Dweller. I used it for the past 35 years and as it became a collector's piece, I had an opportunity of selling it for $17,000. It was time for another Rolex. It would seem that I now have a newer watch and about $9,000, which makes me think that the investment of buying a Rolex all those years ago was a good one. Obviously I'm a happy guy!

What is your newest piece of diving equipment? Is there anything that you've wanted, saved for and finally acquired? Photos?

Pretty! I grew up with watches (quasi-family business... godfather is a master watchmaker). I fell in love with Patek Phillipe, myself, but that is a nice looking piece. How much does it weigh?

Oh, and cudos for actually diving it!

My latest piece was just an inexpensive point and shoot camera capable of 720p and an Ikelite housing for my trip to Cozumel.

That's a beautiful watch. I'm generally not into spending much on them but I admit it's pretty hard to argue with the economics of how it's worked out for you. My latest piece of gear that I really wanted since I started diving was a Dive Xtras Sierra Scooter. Oh yeah, my watch of choice is a Citizen Aqualand Duplex Titanium, nice and light and works perfectly as a backup gauge to my computer.

I was unaware that they build a diver's watch, but you need to be a multi-millionaire to afford one of those! Must be nice.

Good question. I can't see anywhere in the literature about what it weighs. I thinks it's a bit heavier than the Sea Dweller. It's a bit thicker.

I thought it was interesting that the buyer of my Sea Dweller said that it was worth more to him because it had been used for the purpose intended. He asked me to write a history of where the watch had been worn and the conditions it has endured. When he realized it had been used in saturation, he seemed to explode. :-)

Hey that's great. I hope you got some good pics. Post them if you have a chance. ;)

Nice watch! Don't forget to declare the capital gain on your taxes (Listed Personal Property on your Schedule 3) :rofl3::rofl3:

My next acquisition (haven't plunked down the cash yet) will be my new drysuit (I'm leaning towards a Fusion with the Tech Skin) and I'm pondering a set of doubles but that will be after tax season is over & I have some money.

LOL.

I don't have a PP. I have a Breitling (gift) and a Tag (purchase). I hope to one day own a Patek (or, as they like to say, look after it for the next generation).

On that note, I tend to like their simple watches (like this one) more than those with numerous complications. But if you're looking to buy me a Platinum World Time, I won't turn you down :rofl3:

Also, AFAIK they don't built diving watches. I brought it up in connection with Swiss makes.

I mostly shot videos.

I don't (yet) have a red filter or proper lights, but I got at least some decent footage. I'm not looking to sell it anyway :P

Nice! Not a huge fan of watches, but that's nice! (and cost more then my first TWO cars!!!)

Unfortunately my newest piece(s) of dive dive consist of a pair of 7mm gloves and a new hood!

Ordered Sunday from Vintage Double Hose...
shipped yesterday.. anxiously awaiting.....

Pretty cool, though I must say having that "vintagedoublehose.com" badge on it kinda kills it for me. Removing that would be the first modification I'd make.
