Hello. I am new to the board but this will probably be the only time I post. I am looking for some answiers to some diving related questians.

1. Can you become a commercial diver with previosly have asthma problems ( when I was a child, hasn't stopped me from diving yet).

2. Will 100% oxygen sugnificantly decrease your deco time at 5 m compared to air?

3. Can you fit a AGA mask with a CCR? if so, what are the dangers or disadvantages?

4. How do I know if I have a PFO opening in my body? I hear 30% of the worlds population has PFO and can increase chances of DCS 5x

5. Does anyone use OMS (Ocean management systems)? What do you think of their equipment.

Thank you for the help.

I am honored that a veteran of your vast diving experiences would come to us with these questions, even tho you have no interest in being a part of our community.

To honor you appropriately, I have asked my buddy David to post here and will await his certainly more appropriate responses...

The simple answer is that an echocardiogram can be used to diagnose a PFO and that a transesophageal echocardiogram (scope inserted through mouth into esophagus) will provide more accurate results. There are other methods, some of which are discussed here http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=110833&highlight=PFO+diagnosis

Hey rob welcome to SB, too bad you won't be posting again, as my buddy Don said, we are so honored by your presence here on the board. I'm sure you could give much valuable advice being an experienced "Tech Diver" with 2000+ dives and at the rip old age of 23.
I'm not sure if this thread belongs in the Technical Diving Specialties or the Humor, Games, Clips, Yarns & Tales forums, as most of what you seek is not in the category of "basic".
Oh, can you tell us anything about the Sub U-869? :D

Ok, I will stick around, there is a ton of info on the forum! I'm lovin it. Still can't find to many answiers to my questians but I'll keep looking. U think it's a joke I have over 2000 logged dives? I worked for a dive company on the island of kauai when I was younger but moved out here for better diving, I've been diving regularly since 14. But all my dives have been recreational until these last two years. I've been trying to go deeper and penetrate wrecks for experiance, also I hope to make it into DIT in seattle next year. Who knows. Anyways, thanks a lot for the info on PFO's already, I'm still learning.

Hi Ron, since you skipped the Introdcutions forum and didn't tell us anything about yourself, I didn't know what to make of this. Thanks for explaining your history a little. You can post an Intro at anytime if you'd like.

Suit yourself, but it's a great board with wonderful members contributing. You might try it and like it here...?

1. Can you become a commercial diver with previosly have asthma problems ( when I was a child, hasn't stopped me from diving yet).
We have a Medical forum where this question would be reviewed more fairly. And we have experienced commercials divers who would surely see it there, if you gave the thread the right title.

2. Will 100% oxygen sugnificantly decrease your deco time at 5 m compared to air?
I'm sure it would, but that question would be better asked on our Tech forums, where veterans tech divers will see it.

3. Can you fit a AGA mask with a CCR? if so, what are the dangers or disadvantages?
 I have no idea.
4. How do I know if I have a PFO opening in my body? I hear 30% of the worlds population has PFO and can increase chances of DCS 5x
You can hear anything. Thsi article suggests that 10-15% of the population has these, so why we don't see problems in 10-15% of deep divers is a wonder to me. I'm not going to try to interpret the article, tho. Here's another from Scubadoc's Diving Medicine Online. Additional questions along this line could be posted on Dr.Deco's forum.

5. Does anyone use OMS (Ocean management systems)? What do you think of their equipment.
Have you tried our Search feature? You could post that question on our gear forums for better review.

May I suggest starting off with an Adv Nitrox/Deco Procedures type class. Most agenices offer something along those lines. Many of your gear configuration and decompression issues will be addressed there.

If you are doing "tech" diving, including diving past recreational limits, decompression diving, and overhead you really should get some additional training very, very soon.
